Laser provides a visual demonstration of the rate equation
model of a 4-state laser. It can be used to demonstrate the physics of laser systems including: (1) steady state laser action, (2) relaxation oscillations, (3)Q-switching, (4)and mode-locking. The program is also useful as a demonstration of ordinary differential equations since different initial conditions as well as fixed and variable step size Runge-Kutta algorithms can be compared.
All graphs in the Laser have are rendered using the GraphView palette developed at Davidson College. This NeXTStep object is in the public domain for non-commercial educations use in the United States. It can be found in another directory on this CD-ROM.
